Let the clients name their own price
About 1 or 2 years ago, I read an article on the internet about a programmer who let his clients pay him as much as they like (I forgot who he was and what the link was, unfortunately). He claimed it worked. Some people paid too little, some too much. But most of the time, his clients pay just about right. So, in the end he earns enough. I’ve been wondering since, would it work for me, if I implemented the same?
Like they say, you never know if you don’t try. So I decided now that I’m going to implement this technique. The risk of not being paid after spending many hours on a project is quite big, I guess. But I believe that a legitimate business person won’t do that and I also believe in people’s honesty. My challenge is to find this legitimate and honest client and do my work as best as I can.
As a self-employed want-to-be (I still keep my day job), I’ve experienced the harsh of the real world. You have this great idea and business plan, only to find out that you don’t have any fund to make it happen. That sucks. With this technique, I hope that I can help these people realizing their dreams within their budget. Of course, deep down I hope that they will come back to me again, and even refer me to their peers and networks.
I wish myself good luck!
